Happy Bookshop Day!

Today is a celebration of our favourite thing... BUYING BOOKS!

If you're not familiar with Bookshop Day, it's a day created to celebrate and highlight independent book stores around the UK who open their doors to host exciting events. Taking place this year on Saturday October 9th, Bookshop Day is also the PERFECT excuse to spend more money on books 🤪

Books are My Bag are the organisers of this incredible day, and they also have a great tool on their website to help you locate all the bookstores in your area, have a look here and find out where to head this weekend.

To celebrate the day Young Writers style, we asked the office what their favourite book stores were:

Reta: Gwisgo Bookworm, Aberaeron, Wales

This little bookshop was one of the favourite places I visited while in wales a couple of years back. An amazing and friendly atmosphere, great selection of books the customer service was superb. So if you are passing through Aberaeron, I would highly suggest popping inside! Head to their website here.

Lynsey: Book Nook, Hove, England

This shop is a children's book paradise! A cozy little gem near Brighton it's got something for everyone! Have a look at the BookNook website here.

Luke: Queerlit, Manchester, England

This shop specialises in LGBTQ+ books and provides a safe space and key representation to a community not always in mainstream media. They also run a charity aiming to diversify the books in school libraries! They're great! Head to the Queerlit website to order some diverse books and donate to their charity.

Morgan: Boggledybook, Doncaster, England

A gem of a children's bookstore that's equally welcoming and friendly. They're known for raising money to provide children's books to schools, so it's always justifiable to buy even more books. Find out more about Boggledybook here.

Jenny: Takes on Moonlane, Ramsgate, England

There're so many reasons I love this shop! The iconic train circling above your head, the decoration, their stunning window displays, their weekly events and readings, the list goes on. Find out more about Moonlane here and order online.

The list goes on and we could keep naming bookstores we all love, but wherever you are today, head out to your local bookshop, show some love and buy some books!
