Young Writers was founded in 1991 with the aim of getting children and young adults to fall in love with reading and creative writing. By providing annual competitions, inspiring free resources for teachers, fun and engaging themes for pupils, we've proudly inspired a generation of young writers who've written about so many things... remember the Y2K bug? One Direction? GameBoys? Friends TV show? Nokia 3310? There's at least one poem about them in a Young Writers book in The British Library!
When you're passionate about something, you become dedicated and loyal (much like the Young Writers team!) - by helping pupils unlock their imaginations, unleash their creativity and get involved with creative writing, it's amazing to be part of their journey, that boosts confidence and sees them flourish in literacy.
Everyone has the power of imagination - you might not have the best handwriting or be the best at spelling or grammar, but that doesn't mean that you can't write an amazing poem or story. Here at Young Writers we want all pupils to know that writing is like any skill, the more your practice the better you become and we are proud to be able to offer free resources that make it possible for all ages and abilities to get writing!
